APPLIED CHEMISTRY

Studies in English

Full-time second-cycle studies

Education in the major of Applied Chemistry is intended to equip graduates with knowledge, skills, and competencies in the field of chemistry, leaning on the basics of exact and natural sciences (chemical science discipline), enabling them to take up work in any European country, as well as outside Europe. A feature of the second-cycle Applied Chemistry studies is their universality and achieving practical skills. Many laboratory classes guarantee to acquisition of highly valued professional skills in the labour market.

Firstly, the study program emphasizes equipping graduates with theoretical knowledge in exact and natural sciences (especially chemical sciences). Secondly, the planned forms of education also provide the opportunity to acquire practical skills expected in future professional work. Thirdly, the program considers the ethical context of practicing the profession by future graduates of this field, and fourth, improving language competencies in professional English.

“Education in this field will be provided by employees of the Faculty of Chemistry and other faculties of the University of Białystok, which will serve to present the results of their research, promote faculties and universities, but also the city of Białystok and the Podlasie region. Few universities offer studies in this field based on the actual substantive competencies of research or research and teaching staff related to applied chemistry conducted in English. Achieving learning outcomes in the second-cycle applied chemistry field will provide graduates with employment opportunities in enterprises, organizations, and public institutions related to the use of chemistry.” - says the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Białystok, Professor  Joanna Karpińska

Who can study APPLIED CHEMISTRY?

Graduates of first—and second-cycle studies, as well as uniform master's studies in the following fields of study: exact and natural sciences (discipline: chemical sciences), medical and health sciences (discipline: pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences, health sciences), engineering and technical (disciplines: biomedical engineering, chemical engineering), may apply for admission.

We offer two specializations in Applied Chemistry:

  • Chemistry of materials
  • Chemical analysis

Where can you work after completing the APPLIED CHEMISTRY?

Achieving learning outcomes in the second-cycle Applied Chemistry field will provide graduates with employment opportunities in enterprises and in public, non-governmental, and research organizations and institutions whose activities are related to the use of chemistry. These are scientific, research and development, diagnostic, and process laboratories located in biotechnological, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and environmental protection institutions and in the chemical industry and administration. The graduate will be prepared to continue education at the doctoral school and postgraduate studies. Thanks to the knowledge of professional literature, the graduate will be able to follow national and global scientific progress in chemistry and be fluent in English at the B2+ level per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

We also offer numerous elective subjects as part of our specialization. See also: STUDY PLAN
