The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Białystok has organized the national scientific conference entitled “Biologically Active Compounds – Activity, Structure, Synthesis” on a biennial basis since 2008. Over the years, the conference has developed into a well-established forum for scientific exchange, bringing together researchers involved in the study of natural products and biologically important compounds. To date, eight editions of the conference have been successfully held, and the 9th edition is scheduled for May 28–29, 2026. The conference is conducted in Polish.

Each edition of the conference addresses important and current issues related to the chemistry of biologically active compounds, including their biological activity, chemical synthesis, and structural characterization. An integral part of the scientific program is also devoted to the isolation, identification, and advanced analytical methods applied to natural products. This broad thematic scope promotes an interdisciplinary approach and enables the presentation of the latest research achievements at the interface of chemistry, biology, and biomedical sciences.

Throughout its history, the conference has attracted many distinguished scientists representing leading academic and research institutions across the country, significantly strengthening its scientific reputation and visibility within the research community. A particular strength of the conference is the strong participation of early-career researchers, PhD candidates, and students, for whom the event provides a valuable platform to present research results, develop scientific communication skills, and engage in in-depth scholarly discussion.

The conference offers excellent opportunities to establish lasting professional relationships, initiate scientific collaborations, and exchange experience among researchers from different disciplines and at different career stages. Owing to its consistently high scientific standards and open, discussion-oriented format, the conference has become a permanent and prestigious fixture in the scientific calendar of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Białystok.
